Lorraine Courtney: Warum Re-Turn seinen Überschuss von 50 Millionen Euro reinvestieren sollte, um die „Bombenstelle“ in Dublin zu säubern

Re-turn “works” if you ignore bins ransacked, gardens trashed and councils footing the bill. Sitting on a €50m surplus while telling taxpayers to cope is rich. Also: why would *all* that money go to Dublin? It’s a nationwide scheme.
Its encouraging littering. I saw a guy carrying around plastic bottles asking for money. Ransaking any and every bin. Id say they could start on private.home bins if there’s money in it and create a major mess.
Ah the scam rages on
If this scheme is to move in to the 21st century then you need to focus on upstream solutions rather than downstream
* The EU needs to pressurise, or introduce legislation, to have the industry move to more environmentally friendly containers
* Nationalise Re-Turn. Its a climate action scheme, in the public interest, therefore it should be nationalised.
* Digitise the scheme. Stop printing receipts on non-recyclable paper.
* More machines that are to a higher standard. People should be able to tip a full bag in like they can in other countries instead of this „one at a time“ nonsense.
* More machines in public places.
* Stop charging deposits in airports and ports.
Its pretty obvious to me from the start that that the money is going to go to community schemes.
Once they have invested in their own processing plant thats coming online next year I think, and other capex, you will start to see them sponsoring community organisations. It will become the „return tidy towns“, community games etc.
It’s really a shit system if you recycled anyway. Basically you’re now penalised.
Who is Lorraine Courtney?
Why did the media promote this regulatory capture scheme just to complain about the exact desired outcome after it was implemented?
Why would people go about setting up a regulatory capture and then just return the guaranteed income they designed the system to collect?
Privatisation is theft of government assets and power, this „semi state“ nonsense does not stop it from being treason.
How are take aways getting away with charging a deposit for their drinks containers when they are not returnable? Where are they even getting containers without return bar codes on them? It’s in long enough it should be sorted by now.
Save up all this cash, use it to make some deal with our waste providers to give us a 4th bin we can fuck them into and take the amount off our bin bill. That all the people who used to recycle without having to drive their vehicle to a shop can continue to do so without being penalised.
