All the articles on this topic are scarce on details. They all mention 800+ missing persons and over 200 traced, but nothing about the circumstances; as in whether they ran away voluntarily, were kidnapped/trafficked, got displaced, etc…

Male predators.. what else is it?

They need CCTVs like UK.. These numbers are massive.

Delhi police, per the article, state these are stable numbers and not a surge. They should have instead detailed the measures being taken to address this problem.

I wouldn’t trust this type of news too quickly. Lots of informal settlements over there. These women and minors could very well be just there to work and move back to their village without notifying anyone. Pretty common occurrence in south east asia too.

Delhi has a population of about 34 million. It’s a shithole. Sounds like a normal number. What was it this time last year?

Looked it up. About the same.

Add the context of sample size. Everything about india comes with sheer volume that defy common sense. There are more than 35 Million people in Delhi. Obviously the news is sad, but nothing new.

As someone who’s living in Delhi, this has been going on for quite a while now. A lot of people started disappearing in 2025. People disappear for xyz reasons (accidents or voluntarily), I know, but there have been lots of articles in the past 5-6 months.

    8. India has so large population that they cannot care much. I wonder if they know their kids name properly.

My local cops said 700 people disappear every two weeks and I ask what they do about it and they said there are just so many people and I said it looks like they are just sacrificing 700 people every two weeks to some Lovecraftian gods and the local cops started crying

    10. While people disappearing can be people running away from family for reasons, because it’s India, I fear for their lives

    11. That’s the population of a village in the UK. Where did they go!? What’s happening!?

Epstein was one guy who got caught in one North American country, There could be dozens of of his equivalents in India

Ahh Delhi, if the traffickers don’t get you, then the lewd stares and constant harrassment will torture you. If you escape that then the pollution will suffocate you.

      What a delightful capital city.

Before people go crazy over this:

Stats like this are stupid without the population context.

2000 people go missing in Delhi every month. The population is 21.6 million. That’s 95 per million

1000 People go missing in NYC every month. The population is 8.5 million. That’s 118 per million [source](https://themissingny.nycitynewsservice.com/)

3000 People go missing in London every month. The population is 9 million. That’s 333 per million (wtf?)
      [source](https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/missing-people-london-discrimination-police-reports-sarah-everard-b946780.html)

If anything, Delhi is in a better state. Still sad, but nothing crazy

If the capital of the country is unsafe, I wonder what the statistics say about the rest of the country.

Are we still pretending India’s corruption is not a real thing until this day? It’s literally the main cause of 90% of news from India.
