Wait, they really control their multimillion euro satellite and download data from it through an unencrypted channel?
This title is incorrect. The article says Russia intercepted *communications* from satellites.

Sounds like they were so concerned about its sensitivity that they decided encryption wasn’t necessary.
This has been happening for years and they knew about. Only reason this is in the news is because they want political capital to justify funding replacement communication satellites
EU could abuse this by adding complementary satellite(s) and start feeding these with plausible but false information.
