Ich muss sagen, dass die Erfolgsbilanz dieses Gentleman in Sachen Finanzen in Mamer nicht die beste war. Was wäre, wenn es zu einem echten wirtschaftlichen Abschwung käme?

The problem is described in one sentence: Spending on employee compensation grew by €620 million (+9%), with central government wages alone rising by nearly 10% . All the private sector even the EU institutions are on hiring freeze mode and lux gov goes exactly the other way . Once again the problem is the public sector . Decrease the salaries asap of the public employees. No one will leave the sector . Keep the doctors salaries and the one that important for the country steady. But cuts are reasonable in other expenses .

Not fully his fault. Luxembourg is in a structural downturn due to its economic model being less competitive in the current envirnment (back office/desk jobs being rapidly replaced by AI, EU economy less competitive due to many reasons, EU/global effort to combat unequal tax practices, housing too expensive compared to salaries which have not kept pace over the last 10y, etc., pensions not sustainable long term if the economy is not growing as much in order to keep high inflow of expats who would contribute, etc.)

There is urgency in cutting the spendings. Revenue is good. Why building a tram line along the existing one in Kirchberg for example? Why building a new sports center in Hamm? Freeze public sector hiring. Stop raising wages in the public sector. Any major spending project should have to be approved by the population.

Lol people who are asking for a reduction in Public sector wage, i think have never heard about UNIONs.

It will suck to be in your house with no water, no electricity.
    No teachers for your kids.

I guess that is why they are jealous coz they are not unionized.

So it’s about time we pay more taxes to fund benefits to companies like Amazon and Arcelor Mittal, so they can tell us to fuck off and hire 3rd world countries as new operating places /s

Luxembourg has lots of margin! And it is ok to have deficit, it means they are spending in people and infrastructure.
While the economy is not diversified, public finances are great in Luxembourg and we must think how is it in other countries (like Southern Europe) before criticising the government for this deficit. It is very well managed
