Ah yes, let’s find a solution that is first and foremost acceptable to the illegal military occupant. Why care about the people who live here, must satisfy Turkey first. /s
>If you truly want a solution in this country, there are two leaders and three guarantor countries involved. You have to produce a solution that all three guarantor countries will agree to. As the Turkish Cypriot leader, your duty is to conduct a very serious give-and-take process, a diplomatic process, and a consultation process with the three guarantor countries – the Republic of Turkey, the Greek Cypriot leadership – and, as has become even clearer, with many other regionally influential states besides them.
The actual statement
I’m curious to see how the Turks, the TC, and our leftists will justify him this time. What kind of narrative they will invent to convince everyone that the hypocrite Erhurman is not a Turkish asset.
Why must any solution be acceptable to Turkey, the very invader in the first place? Let me be clear Erhurman: we will not sell our country just to keep your patrons happy. We will not sell our country so that Erdogan can give you a pat on the shoulder. If you do not like us or cannot work with our terms, then don’t negotiate with us. Who do you think you are anw to speak to us as if we owe you sth?
Erhurman conveniently forgets that he is the one living under an illegal regime, yet he speaks to the GC as if they were the invaders. A reminder: across the entire world, Cyprus is recognised as the Republic of Cyprus, which you insist on calling an “administration,” while you live under an illegal entity built on stolen property.
We should stay away from this charlatan, and Nikos must be extremely careful to safeguard and defend our interests.
Why the fuck would we want a solution that pleases Turkey? This is like Trump talking about Ukraine and how a solution must please Russia. Quite baffling.
I don’t think Erhuerman is collaborating with Turkey to solely serve their interests here. To me its seems he is trying not to end up politically buried like Akinci by trying to work within Turkey constraints. If a solution is not reached this time, the next pro Ankara leader will be worse than Tatar. It’s completely delusional to think that an expansionist regional power with Neo Ottoman dreams will just pack up and leave and take their troops, colonisers and leverage. Its is equally delusional to think a unitary state will ever happen again especially on an island with a bloody history brought about by ethnonationalists. (Not Greek or Turkish but thats my two cents)
