Ich bin ziemlich neu in Deutschland. Ich fand eine Wohnung, die mir gefiel, und erhielt einen Vertrag zur Unterzeichnung. Ich habe diese Bedingung im Vertrag gefunden (im Bild hervorgehoben)
Übersetzt bedeutet das etwa: „Die Grundmiete steigt oder sinkt nach Ablauf jedes Jahres im gleichen prozentualen Verhältnis, in dem sich der VPI im Vergleich zum letzten Mietvertrag oder der letzten Mietanpassung geändert hat; nachdem der VPI um mehr als fünf Prozent gestiegen oder gefallen ist, um denselben Prozentsatz.“
Ich verstehe nicht, was das bedeutet. Könnte mir jemand, der auf eine ähnliche Klausel gestoßen ist, helfen, zu erklären, was das bedeutet? Und wenn das in Mietverträgen in Deutschland üblich ist?

it means you get a rent increase/decrease every year depending on the consumer price index.
I means your rent automatically increases every year with inflation. VPI is the consumer price index.
Edit: „Is it common“ – it is standard practice in Austria, in Germany less so, but increasingly popular.
The VPI is the Verbraucherpreisindex so approximately the inflation on consumer goodsÂ
So your rent is gonna be adjusted according to the inflation each year, theoretically also downwards but be prepared for 2-3% rent increases every year
It’s legal and getting way more common nowadays, be aware that a rent increases by most other means is prohibited by including this clauseÂ
