Not the best for Japan, but would perhaps make them realise their mistakes more then they currently do, since most of the Japanese that I’ve come in contact with have a tendency to be like „nothing happened in China but the deserved it“ kind of belief.
This kind of occupation would make them more similar to Germans, in terms of being disgusted by their WW2 role. Currently they can’t go a year without either dennying war crimes in Korea and China or like not visiting Shrines dedicated to war criminals.
