As a result of the Atlantic slave trade and subsequent post-colonial migration, people with African ancestry can be found in many different parts of the world.

      **Caribbean:**

      1. St. Kitts % Nevis (98%)
      2. Haiti (95%)
      3. Antigua & Barbuda (94%)
      4. Jamaica (92%)
      5. Grenada (91%)

      **South America:**

      1. Suriname (37%)
      2. Guyana (36%)
      3. Brazil (12%)
      4. Colombia (11%)
      5. Ecuador (5%)

      **North/Central America:**

      1. Belize (31%)
      2. USA (13%)
      3. Panama (11%)
      4. Nicaragua (9%)
      5. Canada (4%)

      **Europe:**

      1. France (8%)
      2. Portugal (7%)
      3. United Kingdom (4%)
      4. Netherlands (3%)
      5. Belgium (3%)

      **Asia/Middle East:**

      1. UAE (11%)
      2. Saudi Arabia (10%)
      3. Yemen (7%)

Those numbers seem to be somewhat close to the number of people who declare themselves black in Brazil. However, at least 45% of Brazilians are pardo (mixed), and nearly all of them have some degree of Black ancestry.

Having somewhere between 5-10% African genetic ancestry as a phenotypically white Brazilian is also common, by the way. So that would possibly raise those figures to at least 70-80% of the population having at least 5% African ancestry in their genetic makeup.

    3. Is it African ancestry or is it black people ?

In France, there is a significant black population but the majority of people with African ancestry aren’t black. They are from Northern Africa. Including the population with Northern African ancestry the population with African ancestry in France is above 10%.

Just to prove my point. There were in 2023 in France

      * 3.367 millions immigrants born in Africa
      * 3.644 millions born in France of immigrants from Africa.
      * A total of 7.011 immigrants or children of immigrants from Africa

That’s already over 10% of France population just with these official stats.

Those stats don’t include grandchildren of immigrants nor people who come from the Caribbeans or other Overseas territories with large people with African ancestry and there ancestors. That’s millions more people missing.

The population with African ancestry in France is well above 10%.

I’m sure the Middle East would have wayy more, the sheer amount of links they’ve had with North Africa from the Roman, Arab and Ottoman Empires would guarantee that. Egypt also has a special relationship with the Levant from the ancient Egyptians, Ayyubids and Khedivate etc.

Iraq also has a significant Swahili population, roughly 4-7%.

I had heard that there was a slave trade, sending Africans to Saudi Arabia. I hade not really thought about it much until I saw somewhere a picture of the Saudi national soccer team and then I realized, oh….

How general does this map consider „african“ ancestry. Most of north Africa is considered to ethnically not be African, but arab, for example.

There is NO WAY IN HELL France has less than 10% of people of african descent

If anything that’s closer to 15%, maybe even above that

    8. wow go figure, the country with the largest trans atlantic slave trade is one of the first ones
