For anyone wondering why Mexico gets that special treatment, it’s a combination of factors. 1, reciprocity; Japanese people can stay as long in Mexico without a Visa. 2, trade relations; there is a lot of Japanese investment in Mexico. 3, very low risk of Mexicans overstaying. 4, historically great relations; Mexico and Japan go way back, and on equal terms, which is something Japan appreciates as they weren’t always the geopolitical force they are now.
