    1. great pick overall! not that it was ever going to be competitive, but exactly the kind of person who should be in politics.

    2. >Martin is the chair of the department of family and community medicine at the University of Toronto. In 2014, she defended Canada’s health care system before a partisan U.S. Senate committee — an act that received widespread attention at the time.

I thought her name sounded familiar. Shes a pretty good candidate and very qualified. Its wild they managed to get someone with name recognition.

Conservative here but I’ve always liked her. We need more people like her. Wishing her all the best.

This riding is a solid liberal riding but the fact that they can get candidates of this calibre speaks for itself.

    5. Definitely a change from the late Trudeau era where every byelection candidate was some no-name staffer who ended up losing. Safe ridings should be used to bring high caliber candidates in, which is what the Liberals did here.

    6. Anyone find it curious that Carney didn’t call a by-election at the earliest possible date? You’d think with the seat margins he’d want to fill that seat ASAP. Unless his intentions is to call a general election…
