      No great loss, American alcohol (other than craft beer) is generally pretty rubbish. American craft beer is top shelf though.

      Ah poor billion dollar businesses ! What about what the tariffs are doing to the poor, middle class and elderly? Consumers are the ones footing the bill the companies that export are facing tariffs in other countries that their customers pay.

      Tariffs or not going forward- it’s over for these guys. There’s no official government legislation that stops Canada and the EU from buying American alcohol, those countries just stopped. Canada cost Jack Daniels about 15% of their business because they don’t want to have anything to do with us. When the US starts tossing around „make you the 51st state“ and „100% tariffs if you don’t comply“ the people in other countries just stop buying our stuff. The long term destruction for the US is there’s no reason to think we will ever stop being the asshole to these countries.

      Most of the major „American“ alcohol makers are owned and controlled by foreign companies.

      Even Budweiser, the „most American“ of beers in owned by a Belgium company.

      Trumps kinda killed brand America. Reputation is hard one but easily lost. Even assuming that the US does manage to get rid of this slide to authoritarianism it will take years to reverse the damage he has done. But I don’t see anything resembling a real election on the horizon for the US.

      Trump winning was always going to be the end of democracy in then US. HE TOLD YOU SO ffs.
