2026 has already had enough shit for a year, if not a decade. Stressful to experience, but also stressful to anticipate because all of this crap was predictably going to happen. Not giving up. The People are the last line of defense for America.

Last November was brutal and special election outcomes have been very telling. Historically red districts swinging 30-40+ points to Democrats for the first time in decades. We’re witnessing the death throws of a movement that was really never about anything in particular. People just got to project whatever they wanted on to it. Sad really

They know there ain’t a jury anywhere in America that would convict, but that of course isn’t the point. They’re trying to silence a prominent journalist by tying him up in legalities and send a warning shot to other journalists. I’m sure this was planned in advance.

Freedom of the press is a core requirement for any functional democracy.
How can the people make educated and informed decisions about their laws and leadership if the press is not allowed to report truthfully on current events?
Arresting a reporter is a 5-alarm fire moment–while shooting innocent people isn’t? Deporting US citizens? Pardoning numerous convicted criminals? Doing favors in exchange for payoffs? Appointing incompetent/corrupt people to heads of agencies?

But then as we see here with our own conservatives and religious folks, they will not just trip over the line but willingly run over it if it means hurting people.

I’m going to keep saying this but the only way out of this is a type of General Strike. If 1/3 of the county stops buying shit (except for paying rent/mortgage, food, and insurance), the companies that own Congress will say, „Okay, fix this now!“ Most companies cannot take losing one third of their business… even for a few weeks. This has to be in an organized fashion and be a very clear message. We either need a national figurehead to stand up and organize this, or we need to grassroots it. Time is running out.
