Here come the political arrests. The direct political arrests. He was reporting. He wasn’t even protesting.

The US really missed a trick by not putting this fucking shit behind bars after Jan 6th. Now we’re seeing the inevitable consequences.

Another thing that would never happen, happening. And if you’ve seen any interviews he’s done, his demeanor is incredibly calm. He’s the exact type of reporter we need on the streets because it seems impossible to rile him up.

  4. I don’t understand. The NYT article on this only mentions judges who refused to issue a warrant for his arrest. Did they get another judge to do it? Did they arrest him without a warrant?

  5. I still have friends who say the US is not Fascist yet, perhaps this will convince them…

The other three already had charges dropped. The legal footing of those were a lot more solid than this and they were flimsy as fuck.

We are arresting the press, but not the people in the streets who are assassinating our citizens for protesting and people still support this fascist regime. Fuck anybody who likes Donald Trump and votes for him.

I watched the entire interaction with him in the church. Nothing he did was remotely close to illegal. He even made clear to people that he wasn’t part of the protest. This is clearly a fascist regime in full force.

They are trying to make an example.

Last week a federal appellate court [declined ](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/appeals-court-don-lemon-protest-minnesota-probable-cause/)to order a lower court judge to sign arrest warrants for five people, including Lemon, in connection with an anti-ICE protest inside a church in St. Paul, Minnesota. At that time one of three judges said he felt there was probable cause to justify the arrests, according to court filings and sources familiar with the matter.

However, Don Lemon was arrested last night, multiple sources with direct knowledge told CBS News and other outlets. A source familiar says a grand jury was empaneled on this yesterday. FBI and HSI were involved in the arrest, sources say.

It was not immediately clear what charges he would be facing, but it appears Lemon and others are charged with civil rights violations of the worshippers.

  10. Completely normal behavior for the sitting US president to jail his enemies, THE PRESS.

    Facist pigs.

  11. This bad. So fucking bad.

Killing innocent civilians, taking over voting centers, detaining press, banning guns…

WE ARE GOING TO LOSE OUR COUNTRY.

  12. I think it was Legal Eagle who broke down the attempts this administration went through in order to arrest Lemon, and the entire purpose of it was to get pictures of him in a Perp Walk. No concern over the actual charges, just that they wanted to get that content.

They find more value in the court of public opinion than they do about the actual law, and that optics are priority number 1.

I know they don’t care, but didn’t a federal judge explicitly ban them from going after him on the church protest?

    >>Still, senior Justice Department officials immediately and publicly asserted that Lemon would face charges. Lemon did not have a right to be on the church’s private property, they’ve said, and *interrupting a church service may have impeded in the churchgoers’ constitutional rights to express their religion.*

    What in the actual fuck?

And people on the right are cheering because someone on the other team is getting hurt.

„That’ll teach um to talk back to their superiors!“

No one can speak ill of Dear Leader! Especially a Black guy!

Looking forward to the furrowed brows of the democratic leadership and their strongly worded statement of disapproval.

    This is fine.

Trump is trying to scare every reporter into not being critical of him. Last time I checked, that was called being a dictator.

  18. As a Canadian watching from the sidelines I feel a profound sense of sadness for what citizens are going through down there. Every day the news down there gets worse. I sincerely hope that Americans are able to come together and put your country back on the right track. I think it’s going to take a deeper restructuring of your political system than just an election, but America has led these transitions before and I believe they can do it again.

    Fascim.

There’s no klaxons. No declarations: You simply arrive there.

    You have arrived at fascism.

It’s insane how much we as a country are letting this administration get away with. Unfortunate.

  21. They are jailing the media. It’s in the playbook. Get ready for the camps.
