>New Brunswick (11.4 per cent)
Damn. Must have broke down on the way to Nova Scotia.
I e been to Italy, France, Mediterranean cruise, Turks and Caicos. Planning Greece but definitely want to go to Newfoundland and Alberta.
it’s a shame too, i came into some money and last and this summer wanted to do a couple of extensive U.S. college/pro sports trips, see some games, eat some cool food, etc.
oh well, better off investing in our uranium anyway. papa needs to restock my cigars!
I’m going on a trip to Fernie, BC next month in lieu of the usual trip down south.
Very excited to see some mountains!
Last year was Montreal, Nova Scotia, Norway and Croatia. This year’s plans including BC, more Nova Scotia (couldn’t get enough!), England, France and likely a few other European countries.
No US trips since 2024, and that was a short business trip; nothing planned to the US in the near future or possibly ever. Considering that I used to travel to the US 6-8 times per year, this is a pretty significant change.
Since we’ve decided to avoid the US .. we have visited, Portugal/Spain and Italy separately. Next up BC west coast run and Italy in the fall.
No need to avoid since there is nothing worth visiting anytime soon. No destination in USA has been on my travel list since 2016 for the foreseeable future. Last time I went was 2015 NYC/NJ on the way to a cruise. Before that was 2014 Alaska cruise. Before that was like 2009 Vegas lol.
I guess the only place are some National Parks in West Coast. But the rest of the world calls to me more.
Quebec City
There are SOOOOO many sweet places to go instead of the US that are cheaper and straight fantastic experiences. It’s honestly been incredibly easy not to go to the US.
Id love to travel more within Canada
I enjoyed my time in Alberta but flights are stupid expensive
Plus Banff will always be expensive in the high tourist time (summer) so I prepared for tha a little bit. But $400-500 a night is ridiculous
We drove to Quebec City and loved Quebec.
On my way to Banff for a bachelor party that two years ago would’ve probably been held in Arizona. Couldn’t be happier with the group’s decision
Last year Montreal and New Brunswick, this year St. Lucia. America doesn’t need my Canadian money, their President said it himself.
Originally planned for my honeymoon to be in Hawaii. Nope. Japan it is.
I just finished my Asian tour with Japan, Philippines, and Hong Kong. Now I’m planning my European tour with UK, France, and Italy. There’s just no way I’m spending my money in the USA.
Yeah two years ago we did France, but also went to New England after not being down for years. Last year I really wanted to go back down, but not after their election. We’d planned Europe anyway and did Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. This year is Ireland and UK. Depending on how their election goes in 2028, we might not get back down to the states until the middle of the next decade.
Cancelled cruise out of the states, just got back from Japan instead! Amazing!
I’d love to travel more domestically but the price of getting around via a flight and even Via Rail is absurd
Interesting. Why the low number for BC? Such a beautiful place to visit winter (skiing) or summer
Thailand was amazing and Vietnam is next. I miss California but nope, not going back.
I’ll travel domestically when air Canada gets its shit together and stops hosing its customers.
Man that video report is so slanted, I couldn’t even finish it. Basically, the cold is enough reason to go down there and it’s only really to do with the dollar.
Neither are actually true.
Greece
Whatp people don’t realize is that a lot of people had annual trips to America that they’ve been doing forever and haven’t thought about it too hard untill Trump did Trump things. All the sudden these people who’ve been going to the same place forever have changed their plans last year and most likely will just settle into a new yearly trip elsewhere.
There tourists are not coming back and will need to be replaced
US is super expensive anyways
Almost double to go to the Azores this year!
My girlfriend and I just did Nova Scotia, and I’ve got a whole whack of ski trips across the country this year. I’ve usually done one trip a year to Vermont for skiing but fuck that.
I live in Victoria, and I still haven’t met someone here irl who has been to Montreal, I find that insane! We go there 2 times a year for the last 8 years.
I wonder how long this trend (and the boycott of American goods) will last. For me personally, it’s not ending with the next US election. There were too many Americans who stood silently while the rhetoric of annexation was going (still going) or the economic hostilities towards Canada or the obscene disrespect for our fallen soldiers in Afghanistan. And then there were the Democrats who joked that a 51st state would be good since Canadians would be voting blue. And a recent survey found that 17% of Americans are in favour of the annexation of Canada.
This doesn’t go away when Trump dies and/or retires as President (assuming no coup to remain in power). I’m not sure what I need – an official apology from a new administration? I don’t know but right now I’m too angry to spend a penny on U.S. soil. Lots to see in Canada and plenty of other countries to visit – a long list of countries who haven’t threatened us.
We spent 5 days in Montreal in October instead of going to Florida
We are American and choose to spend our tourism dollars in Canada! Skiing the Canadian Rockies for the first time later this month.
Chose a more expensive Europe trip over the USA this spring!
I’ll be traveling within my own Province and maybe PEI this summer.
Last year, I went all the way to the UK just to take a cruise, I sure as hell wasn’t going to risk traveling or even transiting through the US. It’s definitely limited options for that type of vacation though, so I probably won’t be doing another for a while. This year is shaping up to be Dominican Republic and Italy though.
We can’t entirely cut the US out because of both work and family obligations.
Vacations are a different story; this year will be New Zealand and England/Scotland/Ireland, and hopefully a trip to the maritimes if we can squeeze it in.
For a family of five, that’s about $80K that will be spent somewhere not US.
Dominican Republic a couple times last year and this year. Flying right over that orange country.
I am discovering South America. Already made 4 trips since this bs started with USA. They would have all been USA trips and I don’t think I will ever go to the USA on personal trips again. South America is really fucking underrated. Really worth it!
Except Ontarioans. Quite a few of us are still going to the States.
