  1. And what do they intend to do? Harass and execute the Italian citizens on the streets like they do in Minnesota?

  2. davus_maximus on

Well, they can’t operate in any law-enforcement capacity in Italy, they’ve no jurisdiction to do so. They also can’t take their weapons without the express approval of Italian local and national police and Italian state authorities. It’s not like they can arrest Italians for not sounding American enough, or being brown on a Thursday, so they may well be no more than suspicious bodyguards.

  3. I guess the only thing here is that they are dropping the pretense that they are an actual government organisation with specific jurisdiction and not the fucking SA.

EDIT: I guess their shirts are actually brown enough already.

  4. Demand their papers, arbitrarily state that they’re fake, and throw them in a hole for a while. Or just snatch them, tell them you don’t want to see their papers, and hold them for a while because you can. That’s what they’re doing to our own citizens, so maybe Italy could return the favor.

I just wonder how ICE will be able to handle being around so many foreign-looking people with accents that they can’t do anything about. They’re going to need counseling when they get home.

  5. Are they just going to…. watch the Olympics? Because there is *nothing* else they are allowed to do on Italian soil.

I suppose if they wanted to incite a riot they could break spaghetti in half to boil it….

  6. Meloni the „moderate“ will allow it to please her bloated orange overlord.

  7. A protest is already scheduled for Saturday in Milano, Piazza XXV Aprile at 14:00.

    I will be there.

Would it really be too difficult to refuse them a visa or are they going to have diplomatic status.

Because the illegal immigrants all bought expensive tickets to see the Olympics…? Wow, they must be contributing members of society to have that kind of money. Maybe make them fill out their paperwork so they can pay taxes then, instead of, you know, brutalizing them.

Why in the hell would border control operate outside of our borders? Crazy

I can’t think of a reason to send an immigration enforcement agency to another country, that seems rather opposite, but sending bunch of bloodthirsty, government sponsored terrorists, well there might be a few reasons Trump wants them in Europe…

  12. > Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, in a bid to cool tensions, told reporters „it’s not like the [Nazi] SS are coming“.

    >Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said on Tuesday that no ICE agents would appear on Italian streets, only officers from the police, the Carabinieri military police and the Guardia di Finanza financial authority.

    >Antonio Tajani told reporters that the ICE agents who were coming were not „those with machine guns and their faces covered… they’re coming because it’s the department responsible for counter-terrorism“.

    >Italy’s Interior Minister Matteo Pantedosi had initially appeared unaware that US immigration officials would be coming to the Milan-Cortina Olympics and said even if they were, foreign delegations could choose their own security, saying: „I don’t see what the problem is and it’s very normal.“

It’s not Italy that is angry, it’s the Italian *opposition*. Meloni and the rest of her far-right government is fine with it.

    >US embassy sources in Rome had already explained to Italian media that various federal agencies had worked at previous Games in the past, although it was not clear if ICE had itself taken part.

Yes, because the Trump administration is known for being responsible and trustworthy…

ICE = Proud Boys with a badge. You do not want these thugs in your country.

It’s not that it’s done on purpose, it’s just like that, to see how much dissent comes, to see what the poor idiots do, and in this case even the church has power, like when Hitler came to Rome to visit Mussolini, I realized that besides him, Italy wasn’t willing to follow his shadow. Seeing all the Vatican museums closed in protest by the church, well, if someone wants to be outraged and wants to act, there’s certainly no shortage of ways, from publicly boycotting all American politicians to stinking up my shit, creating a vacuum around them! In this case, the church could publicly be outraged by its presence on Italian soil, as could the people. So let’s see what the little dwarf chooses?! To please HER people, or her master! We have to show that we are far from Trump and his administration. Politically, we know what Goggia thinks, so screw his decisions. We have to make them feel like they have two feet in the same shoe. Let them come even with the army, they should come back with their underwear yellow with fear!

Pretty certain no European country would allow Russian-style Gestapo stomping about, so why would it not be the same for US Gestapo?

  15. When will people learn? If you’re mad about this then vote with your wallets and with your feet. It’s the only language they understand.

Could somebody enlighten me, please? Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has what jurisdiction in Italy? They are not even law enforcement and not trained to fulfill that role. Italy has their own history with armed fascist goons, I’m pretty sure they don’t want to revisit that…

At what point do we start to make it difficult for Americans to enter Europe?

  18. BirthrightOwner49 on

Make „EPSTEIN FILES“ signs…have folks show up…to protest their presence…they will probably leave right away…lol…

  19. I gotta say I don’t get it. Who are they trying to police here? And they have no jurisdiction there nor legal authority to do anything.

  20. R0ckandr0ll_318 on

News reports suggest the Italians have said if they turn up they will be deported.

  21. I fail to see on whay legal grounds ICE agents could even operate in Italy.

  22. I mean… Show them how Europeans protest. We don’t fuck around. Look at when Bush visited my hometown Gothenburg. The whole city was a literal violent and dangerous warzone for a week. ICE could do with a little of that without their paintball and teargas.

  23. I don’t get it, why is the Italian government even entertaining this thought?? How the fuck are US police allowed to operate on ITALIAN SOIL?

  24. YouWereBrained on

So…they are going to? I thought a few articles came out saying they backed off the idea…
