Consider yourself lucky. Many people woke up to a swimming pool in their kitchen today.

Ah, today I went for a walk with my dog in what looked to be a rice field!

That looks like a sunken area so it’s likely that was designed to do that

Looks like anywhere on Tallaght, circa 90’s

Its a feature of SUDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage Scheme). Its the reason the road in front of it isn’t flooded.

The value of your property just went up. Sell now and advertise it as a lake view, waterfront property!

Council finally made good on that whitewater rafting centre

Whats going on in Ireland?! So many streets and gardens under water. Was it „just“ rain?

There are plans to divert water from the Shannon to Dublin , they won’t need it after the deluge this week , hope the council are filling the reservoirs
Quick, put the house up for sale with „outdoor pool“ on the listing, add 300k to the asking.

I live in Florida and we have a retention pond out back. Catches a lot of rain and keeps our homes dry.

This is by design. The big flat ditch is actually a big drainage basin. Which is why the surrounding banks are so well shaped. Probably designed for a once in decade rainfall.

I’m moving home tomorrow Ireland tomorrow, it was 31 degrees here today. I’m not mentally prepared for this
Pond (usually empty) near my house also performing as designed by the council. There is an even bigger lake upstream that holds even more water as a buffer during heavy rainfall. Really impressed.

You wouldn’t want to be forgetting your umbrella out in that, sure you wouldn’t?

That’s why it’s a field, not a house.
Very good chance it is by design.
At least €100K added to the value of the house
