      Replaced „under the horses head“ outside the old Brown Thomas as my spot for meeting friends in town. „Meet me at the tart“ was the new one. Things were different before mobile phones. Very different, considering I was getting on a bus to meet friends in town and knock around the shops at the age of 10. Never a problem as long as I was home for dinner.

      It’s a created thing. Started by tour guides around 2012 / 13. Presumably as a nod to kissing the Blarney Stone or other traditions. They just made it up and said it’s good luck.

      They put a ring of Holly bushes in front of the statue a few weeks ago to stop people getting up on the statue. They just destroyed the bushes.
