That the officer had secretly recorded the sex encounter that turned into a rape, had it played at ***the victim’s*** trial hoping it would exonerate him, **and** the CPS still backing themselves, is absolutely disgusting.

Can’t believe the CPS took her to court based on a recording they didn’t even listen to correctly.

Too busy falling over themselves to help their Police friends.

Reading that every officer involved should be out of a job and up for perverting the course of justice. And the *alleged* (I mean we’re beyond that now) rapist should be in prison for a long, long time.

So often it seems the police make a decision on who they feel is guilty of a crime and then just seek evidence to fit. They decide their mate was a stand up fellow, so maliciously went after her. Sod what the evidence actually tells you.

And then for the barristers to presumably hear the actual audio recording and make the choice to not play it, knowing full well. There was a portion of the Lucy Letby trial often quoted in documentaries where she said in a statement that she was arrested in her dressing gown. The prosecuting barrister made a huge deal she was actually wearing a ‚Leisure Suit‘ and that meant she was a liar and guilty. The trailer for a Netflix documentary with exclusive behind the scenes footage shows her being arrested… in her dressing gown, exactly as she said.

The fact that prosecutors just see it as fair game and ok to simply lie and bend the truth because doing so helps them get the right result is crazy.

Yet another case that makes me wonder why anyone would be surprised that rape victims don’t go to the police about their assault.

Remember cases like this when you hear someone suggest that a victim is lying because they didn’t seek justice. There is rarely any justice.

I’m also 99% sure I can guess what sex act he convinced her to try on the condition that he stop it if became painful, only for him to continue after she said no, stop, it hurts (thereby raping her) etc. I think people who aren’t utter scumbags would be shocked to discover just how common this particular and specific scenario is. It’s deeply, viscerally painful, traumatising, with significant risk of long-lasting or even permanent injury. This poor woman went through hell.
