      Okay but “paperwork” is important if they’re referring to proper documentation of medical records etc. I wonder what DOFO is planning on cutting now …

      what kind of red tape? we don’t really wanna cut corners just to fast track someone in if they’re not qualified.

      Absolutely not. Especially when most of those doctors come from countries rampant with fraud, such as India and Nigeria. Many of those degrees are straight up, purchased.

      The „red tape“, in many such cases, is what maintains the quality standards of Canadian medicine. Why intentionally derail that?

      Maybe we should just educate more Canadians who want to attend medical school? Or if we are to recruit internationally, focus on countries like Australia, the UK, Ireland and the US? Places with similar quality standards?

      Please, I need a doctor in ottawa, badly.

      My last doctor (after years of waiting and looking) was refused permanent residency for being a woman over 40 who was unmarried without kids.

      I need my adhd meds, I need to be able to function, I’m getting fucking old.

      Ermmm I think cutting red tape to get more doctors in might be a bad idea.. i think doctors are one thing where it makes sense to make sure they are competent and don’t have a „degree“ from baljit medical school

      My doctor’s office has a sign that says to save the doctor time, AI is being used to listen to and summarize the doctor/patient discussion, and the doctor will proofread the AI summary before filing it in the patient records. I’m ok with that.

      What is this obsession with foreign doctors ? We have thousands of people who would be excellent doctors yet we refuse to expand med schools.

      This is good news to this family doctor. The administrative burden is not only hard on us, it’s also a deterrent to family doctors practicing traditional longitudinal family medicine. Many of my colleagues in family medicine residency went into other fields outside of traditional family practice ( ie went into ER, hospitalist, addictions etc) which although needed, doesn’t help the family doctor crisis.

      The amount of forms insurance companies, school boards, employers etc want, is insane. These generic forms that are employer specific are the absolute bane of my existence. Someone is off work with a sprained ankle for a week and needs a 3 page form to return to work when a simple one sentence note on my letterhead should suffice. Not to mention the 30 page PWD forms or Disability tax credit form that every accountant under the sun tells their clients to apply for.

      AI scribes have been a game changer for my documentation but there is still lots of room for improvement.
