Hallo,

    • Whether this counts as normal wear or damage

    • If the landlord can deduct money from my deposit

    • Roughly how much such a repair usually costs

Ist es besser, den Vermieter jetzt zu informieren oder zunächst eine kleine Reparatur/Reinigung durchzuführen?

Für jeden Rat wäre ich sehr dankbar.

    1. Damage

      yes

Try Scheuermilch otherwise contact your Private liability insurance

    2. Looks like IKEA Eckbaken Beton.

If needed and still available at Ikea (the worktop is currently being discontinued), the entire worktop costs a maximum of €60 new.
How do i know? I look at the same Pattern every day

Edit: in the end, it’s a kitchen. Accidents happen and that thing will see much more in the future Especially in a WG, right?

    3. No, it’s not normal wear and tear.
And yes, your landlord can take the repair cost from your deposit.
There is no fixing it. The top needs to be replaced and that will cost upwards from 500€, I would guess, without knowing the details.

You can try to have your Haftpflichtversicherung pay for it. However, they usually don’t cover gross negligence and will probably refuse. But it costs nothing to try.

Search for repair kits on Amazon, get one, repair it yourself. The repair kit contains wax fillers for holes if there are any and water resistant paints. This would cost you about 15 euro.
