Politicians should probably work on stuff like housing costs putting homeownership out of reach for the younger gen before asking them not to become extreme tbh

But… that’s the entire appeal.
These aren’t 18 year old fiscal hawks, theyre attracted to the far right because they get to „own the libz“. MAGA and the Convoy crowd are not conservative movements. Theyre reactionary and contrarian towards anything they deem „woke“.
If they were actually passionate about smaller government, rather than weaponizing government to hurt their opponents, then it would be a different story. But they cheer on authoritarianism, bigotry and hatred.

Must they? We may *want* them to reject it, but from what I see, that’s the whole *appeal* for them! They *like* doing this, and telling them we don’t like it will only make them laugh harder.

Asking young men not to join the conservatives is a really misguided appeal that ignores one of the biggest problems the left has right now with regards to young men: why they tend to lean right in the first place. A lot of these right leaning influencers appeal to young men simply they provide a male role model type figure that is lacking in the lives of younger men. The left simply does not have any or at least enough male influencers that can compete for social media attention in the feeds of young men and provide enough compelling reasons for them to eventually adopt left leaning positions as opposed to right leaning ones. Where are the popular left leaning male influencers? Do they exist? If they do, why are they struggling to get the attention of young men? If they don’t exist, then the left has to solve that problem first if they want to bring this demographic back into the fold.
Solving the issues facing young people doesn’t address some of the critiques young people have about the left – that left leaning leaders don’t feel authentic, aren’t bold or don’t acknowledge the issues that young men are facing. Right leaning influencers at the very least are able to tap into the sense of rage and hopelessness that young men are feeling. And in this day and age, publicly acknowledging the feeling of a demographic is a great way to get their buy-in.

If we want to save young conservatives we need to give them quality candidates to look up to. People like Trump and Hitler win when things are bad because they promise to fix everything, and people want it fixed. Maybe they do, maybe they don’t, but people want change from whoever they perceive as the cause of things being bad.
In a world where young men are often told how bad they are, or how they’re wrong for having their own views and opinions on things, it’s not surprising they turn to shitbags like Tate and Kirk who agree with them and tell them they’re not wrong.
