      At this point, any Indian looking to go to Russia for work can expect to be placed on the frontlines without training. Agents in India, UAE and Russia promise blue collar work and make them sign contracts written in Russian that they don’t understand, but they sign anyway since they’re desperate for money.

      Yeah they are sent to the frontline, a guy from my state was sent to the frontline, last contact was a year ago , these guys are promised work in warehousing or something like that , the agents trick them and assure them there’s nothing to worry about and desperation for the work force’s them to go and these Agents also take payments from these guys calling it visa fees or processing charges.

      On my flight in January 2025 from Delhi to US via Dubai, there were around 20-30 males (in their 30s) who were headed to Russia. They were apparently going there to do some work in clothing/textile manufacturing.

      All of them visibly coming from poor families, trying to make a buck to support their young families. The guy next to me did not have a grip on English let alone Russian.

      We chatted for a while and I insinuated that he should be careful and make sure that they didn’t get into a situation they weren’t ready for given the geopolitical situation in Russia.

      I guess there was no turning back at that point. I hope they are okay.
