India needs to grab this opportunity and do the right thing over the next 5-10 years. A lot of internal systems need reforms. The Indian bureaucracy and state agencies still treat businesses as thieves until proven innocent. India is one of the toughest places to do business – mainly due to red tape and endless compliance. Things have improved but there’s still massive room for improvement. Tax system needs an overhaul, middle class is waking up to the massive waste of tax money. Everyone is asking what are we getting in return for our taxes. Corruption is widespread and judicial system is overburdened and slow. Any external trade deals must be accompanied by internal policy reforms for it to benefit all Indians to be truly historical.
