Banning things isn’t the solution to every problem. If the thousands of pounds price tag isn’t already a deterrent, then these women will hardly be dissuaded by having to go abroad for surgery.

The first step should be holding doctors accountable for not providing all the risks beforehand.

In which case she’ll have a slam-dunk win in a lawsuit against the surgeon.

The reality of course is that she almost certainly was warned of the risks and there’s a signed consent form in her medical file.

  3. I read recently that Brooke Shields was really distressed by her vulva from an early age. It’s depressing that one of the most beautiful women of her generation still was body shamed by partners etc.

There are people who regret having boob jobs or nose jobs but we don’t talk about banning those procedures. I had a labiaplasty on the NHS when I was 14, almost 20 years ago, and I have no regrets whatsoever. Comparing it to FGM is hyperbole and frankly disgusting.

If she wasn’t advised properly then she has a case. If she was, then she is an adult who has made a stupid decision and is now living with the consequences.

Wanting a design vagina since 14 is not some noble goal, it is an indication of a deep seated issue.
