His 50 years career in government from 1970s to 2020s across conservative and liberal party ended up with 23 years sentence. By the time 23 years are spent, he will be 100 years old or he can perhaps pass away in the jail.

Special counsel demands 15 years in prison but the judge ruled 23 years. Its a small victory though as he will surely request to go 2nd trial (same as appellate court).

This also blows a fatal legal injuries to Mr Yoon, who’s been requested „death penalty“ for this treason in martial law by the same special counsel team (although its different judges)

How refreshing. A country that holds it’s leaders accountable.

    Hi USA 👋

It would be a great achievement if we could get these horrible leaders in the US convicted.

If the U.S. had a system of justice a shitload of people would be in prison instead of fomenting official violence on the streets of our cities.

  5. Does every comment on this really need to be about the US? I know this seems like a good topic to make snarky comments on but it seems really off for other countries‘ news to just have people talking about the US all the time.

Also, if you guys in the US want your leaders to be accountable like this you have to show enough anger to make them be accountable. That whole thing about how the government should fear the citizens and such

South Korea is a strange country in many ways, especially when it comes to politics.

But this… this is very good.

    Some (many) should follow suit.

  7. I hope the world is paying attention.

What’s happening in South Korea is what happens when a government holds insurrectionists accountable.

What’s happening in the US is what happens when you don’t.
