Title is misleading.
There are many laws still on the books in many states that have been declared unconstitutional and are unenforceable but were never technically repealed.
Unconstitutional old laws that just haven’t been repealed.

Unfortunately, not really enforced. All citizens are at the whims of the voters; with the death of local journalism, I’d doubt most Americans even know the demographics or policies of their governing officials.

That’s kind of a pointless law. In most of the states that have it (and several more that don’t), people just wouldn’t vote for an atheist anyway.
Unless one states in an open mic „I am atheist“, how would they know?
