Reading Modern and Contemporany history of china , it is incredible how politics and the military are connected. Corruption is a feature of the sistem , usefull for all, patronage network’s and Political networks come since the first dinasty’s. The Aliance between the Military and ruling party is something that Sun defended given how much generals in chinise history did political coup’s and where corrupt, even at the time of the KMT and CCP founding year’s , that’s why the NRA and later CCP made political loyalty to the regime so important. But of course such sistem would lead to corruption, has this relations would deepen and corruption would become more entrenched for politcal reasons . Any totalitarian sistem with strong political dependency on the Military ( in case of china the Army is extension of the party , so a strong political force ) , means corruption is tolerated for political support , since the death of Mao the Party and Army where multiple times at odd’s and the party needed to reign in the PLA, by increasing political control and the Party Military relation. Problem is now … Xi has politicaly became the new Mao , he has more and more power centralised on him, braking with the post Deng consensus of CCP politics. Firing a politcal ally is no longer to dangerous for Xi if he believes that doing it so will make his position stronger in the long term. Is likely he is betting on the Taiwan reunification has his Great Helsman moment , the new Great Unifier and figure of chinise comunism .
