Hallo zusammen,
Heute (Freitag, 23. Januar 2026) hat der UN-Menschenrechtsrat (HRC) dafür gestimmt, sich mit der Frage der Menschenrechte im Iran zu befassen. Wie Sie sehen, wurde der Resolutionsentwurf hauptsächlich von westlichen Ländern und zwei afrikanischen Ländern unterstützt. Die leeren Länder sind keine Mitglieder des UNHRC.
Ich habe Blau statt Grün gewählt, da mir gesagt wurde, dass dies für farbenblinde Menschen einfacher ist. Ich habe absichtlich Orange (anstelle von etwas Neutralerem) für Enthaltungen verwendet, da ich sehe, dass beide Länder, die sich enthalten und dagegen stimmen, das islamische Regime im Iran ermöglichen.
Interessante Features (zumindest für mich):
- Nach den Präsidentschaftswahlen ist Bolivien nun westlich ausgerichtet, nachdem es viele Jahre lang mit Kuba (und Venezuela/Nicaragua) abgestimmt hat.
- Ghana und Benin stimmten dafür, während sich die Elfenbeinküste der Stimme enthielt.
- Ich hatte erwartet, dass Thailand dafür stimmen würde, da sie manchmal mit Europa und Amerika stimmen.
- Ich war überrascht, dass Vietnam dagegen gestimmt hat, statt sich der Stimme zu enthalten. Vielleicht weiß jemand besser als ich, warum (sind sie mit China verbündet? Ich dachte, sie hätten territoriale/maritime Streitigkeiten).
- Die gemeinsame Abstimmung Indiens und Pakistans ist auf traurige Weise ironisch.
- Ich frage mich, ob Saudi-Arabien, Bahrain oder die Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate anders abgestimmt hätten als Kuwait/Katar, wenn sie stattdessen die derzeitigen Mitglieder des UNHRC gewesen wären.

They should just shut down this big waste of public money. It does not really matter what they vote, they are all toothless either way.

I know that there is a lot of complicated politics in UN, i know that countries often vote because they dont agree with specific wording inside of the resolution, not necessary that they are against the subject in principle
But still, when it is about mass executions of humans for political reasons and sending independent investigation, it shouldn’t be about „western-aligned“ or not, it shouldn’t be about specific wording.
From what i have read, there is nothing really controversial inside of that resolution
So the Iranian regime kills as many people in a few days as Israel killed in months and all those morally outraged leaders from the Middle East and Global South don’t give a shit.

Of course China and Iraq are against it. They’ve been sending proxies and supplies.

The UNHRC is a completely useless institution
As a brazilian, I apologize for our country not condemning the tyrants of Iran.
Any effort made will only entrench the Iranian regime further. The regime derives its politial legitimacy primarily through opposition to foreign interference, and oppose they sure do. If they’d been left alone 50 years ago, and after, the regime would’ve fallen by now. People won’t put up with it if the regime can’t point at a boogeyman trying to take over their country.
