Facebook Marketplace is a tool widely used by criminals and scammers, regardless of the country. People should be more careful with these types of ads and thoroughly verify information to avoid problems.

Some towns have designated areas next to police stations for buyer-seller meetings. Just learned this recently.

Quebec created designated spots in certain police stations to conduct such transactions in order to address this problem. They’ll even check if the bills are real or counterfeit for you.
Jesus people are dumb. If your going to kill someone for some money at least make it a little more worth it. I think if the news frequently aired how we are all being tracked and how we live in a surveillance state crimes like this would drastically fall.

I always meet at a police station. Literally just park and do the transaction right outside the door. If they don’t want to meet there, I know there’s something up or just not worth my time

Not gonna lie. This scenario is an active fear I have of selling to strangers online. Most of the time I donate things because selling some piece of shit for $20 isn’t worth risking your life and health over.
What a terrible tragedy. This really touched me. The way he texted his wife and mother goodbye before dying. He sounds like a wonderful guy. Life is so cruel and unfair. Condolences to those left behind.
Absolutely not the fault of the victim here – but I’ve yet to understand why people don’t agree to meet up at the Police Station or somewhere similar for these deals. If they say no, then you know they’re not legit and if they say yes and still try to screw you over then it’s a pretty short trip to get help.
I know some towns have a room set aside in their station specifically for these types of transactions so everyone stays safe.
Don’t just go to their houses or somewhere „public“ – go somewhere truly safe.

Why did the teens kill him? Three teens ruining their life over one used phone…. Doesn’t add up.
What the hell, it’s not like it’s a lot of money or even usable when stolen. I don’t know why they look so down in their mugshots. They knew what they were doing.
