    1. I’m the OP – apologies this isn’t an explicitly Canadian article as I couldn’t find one. The issue is likely that there is so much nonsense that happened this week. But 158 Canadian soldiers (+7 civilians) died in Afghanistan, with over 2000 wounded, and many more forever impacted by the effects to families. We have sacrificed many times for our relationship with the US, and what it has come to is an utter disgrace. I say pull out of CUSMA. Appeal to US veterans who know Canadians from their times together on the front lines.

Edit: and maybe someone more knowledgeable can fill in here, but my understanding is that from the intensity of Kandahar actions alone, Canada lost proportionally more than the US in Afghanistan. In any case, it’s not just the insult here, it’s the permanent damage to democracy. What an utter cowardly moron.

    2. Wow, this is an absolutely disgusting move by the US president. Spits directly in the face of veterans not just in the UK or Canada, but US veterans as well, who know how much we helped America in Afghanistan.

Over 100 Canadian soldiers died in Afghanistan, not necessarily to protect Canada, but to help out our American friends defend themselves after the horror that was 9/11. I want to reiterate, Canada wasn’t directly affected by 9/11 like America was, but we still sacrificed ourselves for them, because it was the right thing to do.

At this point I wish to see only the worst for Donald Trump. Maybe he should’ve fought in the Vietnam war when his country called upon him instead of lying to get out of his duties? Maybe then he’d understand the sacrifice Canadians have made for *his* country?

If this is the thanks we get we shouldn’t spend a single dollar or send another single soldier anywhere to help them.
