They’ll pretend an invasion as immanent to boost their own poll numbers. Getting people angry like PP did is one thing. Getting people scared and hysterical about the possibility of their town getting shelled is quite another. It’s irresponsible.

I can’t believe there are actual functioning adults that think the US would launch a military invasion of Canada, would never happen they will just continue to push the buttons economically

Good. Canada telling theb world to stand up for itself and we’ll be there beside them. Really something we should have always done. If it wasn’t Trump, it could have been somebody much worse and we should be ready for that. Hope that our allies will always be nice to us isn’t good government policy.

The fact is, the US presents a clear threat to Canadian sovereignty and safety, whether that threat takes an economic or military form.
We cannot put our heads in the sand on this one and must deal with the reality of it.
Carney has the right answer: reduce reliance on the US, diversify trade partners, build alliances and partnerships, and invest in defense.
Anyone that still wants to submit to the US is willfully blind.

Canadian IR realists had a field day with that speech, after decades of status quo neoliberal/idealist models they’re just rolling out the „YOU SEE, YOU SEE??? WE WERE RIGHT ALL ALONG“.

When a pedophile says ‘We can do this the easy way, or we can do this the hard way’, I don’t believe he is just referring to extending his economic terrorism tariff tactics.
