  1. As always when they say Type 31, they really mean Arrowhead 140. Meeting Denmark’s requirements would need something much more akin to the [Polish variant](https://www.navylookout.com/miecznik-polands-ambitious-adaptation-of-the-arrowhead-140-frigate/) than the British one. Wicher is similar to the French FDI in capability, and that’s the main competition for the Danish (and Swedish) frigate program.

The focus on interoperability rather than delivery date is a bit surprising, as officially at least I think there should be enough time after the British ships are done to get another out by 2030

  2. We need to stop touting and start doing in an emergency situation like this.

It feels like we’re on the brink of World War 3 and all nations are busy trying to negotiate when they could just stand firm together, give their unconditional support to each other and work the details out later.

I only trust Europeans to look after Denmark and Greenland. Given the recent fiasco involving Donald Trump and the United States, which has affected the rest of NATO, this is a situation that should be handled solely by European powers, without any involvement or assistance from America.

Hopefully this won’t come from the ships in production for the RN.

I’m all for selling ships as exports, but the RN is already going to experience a frigate gap, especially as the Norwegian Type 26 is likely coming out of our build queue

  5. Can’t read most articles these days because of oaywalls and popus. Why bother? Shall I just react to headlines like some others do?

The whole continent now has to gear up for war with America.

Never thought I would say that but there we are.

This is going to be a pivotal moment for NATO and Russia (and China, Iran etc.) are going to be watching carefully, considering their next move. We need to show that standing up to Trump does not mean a weak Europe that cannot put aside its differences for a common goal. We need to wean ourselves off America and their military and this is a step in the right direction.
