      I know it’s easier to kill children than it is to kill people who are so beloved by their voters that they have to live on military bases, but it’s still strange how many of one there is and how few of the other.

None of his followers will understand it’s not a new base or new deployment of troops and think he won and that Europe lost. Those people hate Europe and love Russia anyway. Meanwhile Putin is getting what he wanted in a diminished US influence in Europe and more bargaining power.

      I expect this was all just a scam and it was just to cause a temporary surge in the stock market which he got.

      The only problem now is the EU pulled ratification of the original trade agreement, and I think there might be a problem getting it reinstated. The people who were originally opposed to the deal are now saying „see, we told you he couldn’t be trusted“. And they’d be right.
