      Trump is out of control, standing there like a mob boss threatening the world. We are about to have a fight for our nationhood. Things seem to be unwinding fast now.

      Thank you Prime Minister Carney! If anybody still believed we could make a deal with the raving lunatic sitting in the Oval Office, Trump’s speech in Devos today is your last wake up call.

      Usually this kind of thing goes unsaid by leaders, but of course he is right.

      Auto manufacturing exists in Ontario because of our ability to export to the US. Many other businesses have the same constraints.

      We have only one place to send a lot of our energy exports.

      And that isn’t going to change quickly because our trade routes are US-optimized over even internal trade. If you want to change it, you will have to do a big infrastructure build to sell the same (or less) amount of product. That’s expensive.

      So: inflation. Get ready for it.

      What happened to inter-provincial trade, anyway? By Canada Day 2025, right?

      Ok the most troubling part of that speech (and there were many) about Greenland:

      >“They loved me. They called me daddy, right? Last time. A very smart man said he’s our daddy. He’s running it. I went from running it to being [called] a terrible human being,“ Trump said of its people, though it was unclear if he was describing a specific interaction.

      >“Now what I’m asking for is a piece of ice — cold and poorly located that can play a vital role in world peace and world protection. It’s a very small ask compared to what we have given them for many, many decades.“

      What the heck kind of disgusting perverted fever dream is this based off of? When are his people going to finally do something about him?

      He’s not wrong. Canada currently exists in its present form because the U.S. hasn’t invaded it. They could, but don’t, because it would be ruinously expensive and ineffective, and because they’ve been able to get much of what they want from us through mutually beneficial partnerships.

      Not to take unnecessary swipes at them, but half of the conservative party will still look at Trump and be like „yeah he’s cool“💀
