  1. I thought it was for missile defense, not shipping lanes

But the truth is the same thing it always is. It’s for resources. USA was to exploit the land for minerals to build batteries for you and me

the show The Diplomat had an entire season arc on the strategic importance of Greenland.
The Internet is full of trying to give equal weight to experts and randos

  3. LOL, you put way too much into this than it deserves. Everyone knows its about his personal glory and resource extraction.

Trump just wants to be a president who got land so his cult can point to something, not much strategy to dissect

  5. I always thought the logic was that global powers were making preparations for when the sea ice melts in the North Pole? So when the sea ice melts enough to permit commercial travel. Greenland would then be of importance, in that respect. Wouldn’t Donald Trump have a point at least geopolitically? I’m not sure what this video proves

Also note that if the US is concerned about China using the Arctic to deliver goods to Europe, they’d be using the Northern Passage in Russian waters anyways.

Isn’t the point that if you control the Bering Straight, Greenland, and the waters between Europe and Iceland, you effectively control all ships going in or out of the Arctic Sea? Like that’s the point. Controlling what’s in between doesn’t matter.

  8. He will rename Greenland. No prizes for guessing what its new name will be.

You’re using reason and logic for an idea generated by a vain moron.

It’s all to line his private offshore bank account. Like how he stole Venezuelan oil and literally pocketed the money.

This man will go to any lengths to get people to forget about Epstein.

  11. The Trump plan is to burn enough oil, gas, and coal so the atmosphere warms. Ice melts, opening Greenland to rare earth metals mining and port development. All in service of the Trump ego trip.

It’s not about what’s happening now. That ice is melting fast. By 2040 agencies like NOAA and IPCC predict that route will be wide open in the summers.

Anyhow, there’s quite a few military and economic advantages to whichever country controls that area.

I personally think this Greenland situation is insane but I wouldn’t plan for arctic ice existing in the future lol. Trump’s opponents of all people should know that.

  14. Accomplished-Moose50 on

If that „Future arctic route“ really opens we are fucked anyway, controlled by Russia or US or Jesus

Just wait 10 years and that route WILL exist after global warming. I’m sure he has seen the real projections that our Oil companies have hidden.

  16. Shipping lanes may be the most important geopolitical reason for the US desiring to own Greenland, but it’s certainly not top of mind of the orange man
