    Urkomischer Betrugsversuch


    Heutzutage, in Zeiten von KI, Spoofing und anderen ausgefeilten Betrugstechniken, versucht jemand diesen Betrug mit äußerst geringem Aufwand und ruft über Google Meet an, in der Erwartung, dass jemand glauben würde, dass es sich hier um eine echte zyprische Polizei handelt 😃 Ich dachte, vielleicht versucht mir ein Freund einen Streich zu spielen, also habe ich abgenommen! Und da war ein Typ, der kein Griechisch sprach, nur gebrochenes Englisch mit schrecklichem Akzent und sagte, dass er ein Einwanderer sei und mein Visum abgelaufen sei und ich ihm meine Kreditkartendaten geben müsse, damit er es verlängern könne. Ich lachte und beendete das Gespräch. Betrugsversuch mit dem geringsten Aufwand, den ich je gesehen habe. Ich hoffe, dass sie einen echten Polizisten rufen und für den Betrugsversuch bestraft werden.

      Someone tried to scam my wife, as well. He pretended to be the Czech police but only spoke English with an Indian accent, LOL.

      Whenever these calls happen. Try to waste their time and have fun with them, dont end it too quickly lol

      Pick up, when he says „sir, I’m from the Cyprus police“, you shout back: „No! No! I’m from the Cyprus police!“

      These mofos managed somehow to match my phone number with my email address and they „called me“ from my email adress

      I received a call like this one yesterday. The caller id said Eurobank and it had the logo. It raised my suspicion as it didn’t show a phone number and I never got an image for contacts that were not saved on my device. It was a video call and I am not sure how they managed to show specific caller ID.
      I immediately thought it was a scam call so I was curious and answered it. The accent immediately confirmed my suspicions.
      – „Hello sir, we are from the fraud department of your bank. Did you perform any purchase the last few minutes for 129.99 from UAE?“
      – „Yes“
      – „Sir, you performed a purchase from UAE dor 129.99 in the last 5 minutes.“
      – „Yes. I made a purchase for 129.99 from UAE just a few minutes ago.“
      – „…“
      And then they hang up. Their script didn’t cover this scenario.
