I don’t get what this guy is able to offer that NES doesn’t. Anyways, leadership races are about organization and signing up members, and I don’t see how an outsider would be able to do that.
Absolutely not. I say this as a 30 year old, there isn’t a chance Lombardi is getting elected as leader without any political experience and becoming the next Premier of Ontario.
I like his non-profit experience, and I believe he would make a great MPP, and could potentially be a Minister of Housing in a Liberal government. However, if he did win the leadership of the OLP, the OPC would slaughter him in the general.
To really stand a chance, the next leader either needs former political experience, or needs to be a really heavy hitter in the private sector.
Can’t wait for the next Ontario liberal leader to only gain 4 seats and 40% of the vote and the ndp is still official opposition some how
NES and be done with it. I would he fine with either Stiles, NES or MS leading the province. All 3 are decent people with progressive ideas
>Could Lombardi, a policy wonk who has none of Premier Doug Ford’s easygoing people skills, actually win the Liberal leadership?
The leadership? Probably, considering an absolute black hole of charisma named Steven Del Duca managed it.
But could he win them an election? No, not likely. Because in politics, optics, message discipline and charisma are a million times more important than competence, intelligence or good policy.
I like Lombardi and like his work. I want people like him in the party war room. But the _leader_ of a party needs to have street smarts, not book smarts.
