And now that we’ve come to this discussion: Do Aliyev and YAP even have any ideology? You know, like Yedinaya Rossiya with its great Russia narrative? Or like the Georgian Dream with its existential crisis and war against gays? Or like whatever AKP is doing?
I think it would be very hard to actually place most of our governmental figures on political coordinates since everything they do is simply keeping the status quo while not really doing anything with the social and internal aspects within the country, instead just letting it all be with little to none „moral standards“ implemented. They ( i also mean Aliyev here) just don’t ask citizens to believe much of anything, and instead just mainly hope that the people won’t ruin their infinite regime. So the social order is preserved through the lowest possible level of intervention, not out of liberal principle but more of a pragmatic approach aimed at avoiding large-scale (and i highlight Large-scale) public dissatisfaction.
Based on all this + His rare interviews and even rarer public speeches regarding INTERNAL affairs, I would put Aliyev in a moderately authoritarian right square, kind of close to the center, at the junction with the libertarian right square (because compared to figures like Mirziyoyev our president is actually a pretty İşinə Qarışmayan type of person – well, if you’re not someone who threatens him and his regime obviously.)
The political compass is a terrible way to measure political positions. Post-Soviet issues are fundamentally different, and it’s less a left-right contrast and more a government-anti government axis.
How is Putin centre left? It’s literally monopolies and state corruption. And very conservative views of what a Russian society should look like.
Putin is not center left the political compass is ass stop using it
Who tf made this shit? Aliyev is in NO WAY more authoritarian than putin, lukashenko, berdimukhamedov and rahmon.
This graph is mostly bs
Now the tsar should be in the very top right corner
Crazy Lukashenko is right wing.
Is this some kind of a joke? Zelensky is on the right while Putin is on the left? I feel bad for whoever made this though, getting dropped as a baby is very unlucky.
Edit: Nevermind, this account has another one where Merz is to the right of Hitler and Goebbels is on the left. It’s a troll.
