Pretty alarming, and I’d wager that pandering to Trump’s ego is the smartest thing they could do. Encouraging an annexation that could well lead to the breakdown of NATO is exactly what Russia wants.

Russia probably thinks the US fighting the EU is going to do any goods for itself. More likely a EU being forced to be self sufficient and competent will just end up being another USA.

There is no way Russia will not fall in the long run because of the Ukraine invasion. It cannot fully occupy Ukraine nor afford to stop the invasion. At the same time China is milking every drop of below market price oil and other resources out of Russia.
