Goodbye Assyrians and Kurds. The new admin will likely impose the Arabization policies of Assad, pushing for minorities to emigrate or assimilate

Imagine defeating ISIS with Western support and then getting wiped out by Western backed Islamists ten years later. Crazy how unstable relations are in the Middle East. RIP Kurds and Assyrians.

  3. Wait, did the SDF just loss half there territory? And did Turkey just fully withdraw from syira? When did this happen?

This map is completely unreadable for people with colorblindness.

And no, colorblind people do see color in the large majority of cases, but more people need to know that using yellow and green to contrast regions makes it impossible to differentiate between them for 5% of the world population.

So can someone give me a tldr of what’s happening in Syria right now? I thought things were stabilising after they overthrew Assad

  6. Imagine supporting an al-Qaeda jihadist dictator instead of an oppressed ethinic minority who against all odds tried to defend themselves and create a democratic society with equal rights for women in probably the most violent region on Earth

So sad they failed, but without external support it was quite obvious they could not hold for long

  7. Since the fall of Assad it was obvious that this was going to happen; surrounded by Turkey and ISIS, they had no chance.

I was looking at this last week, and the Kurds held the whole top portion of the map, kind-of crazy the developments in the past few days.

  9. I wish for Syria to finally be united under a singular and stable government.
