The orange states are sanctuary states. Illegal Immigrants will go there where they think they are safe and can live without being deported (even when they may be criminals). No matter how the liberals want these immigrants to be happy here, they are criminals and should be deported. — AND — the state and local governments should assist ICE in deporting these people,

There’s some interesting correlation going on there.
From the article
„Arrests at jails and prisons went up over the past year, but the increase was far exceeded by the growth in what ICE calls “at-large” arrests, the apprehensions of immigrants on the streets, in courthouses, and at homes and businesses. These quadrupled to about 150,000 and made up a majority of immigration arrests in 32 states and Washington, D.C.
They were most common in states like California, Illinois and New York, where local governments have passed laws blocking local jails and prisons from transferring people to ICE custody.“

Hm – the low numbers in republican dominant border states is shocking. It’s almost like this is a direct target at democratic dominant states….
Looks pretty reasonable in terms of population density, agriculture hubs that are very labor intensive (West Coast specifically) + the Upper Eastern Seaboard
I’m more surprised there isn’t more in places like Iowa versus Illinois for example, we know there are millions of illegal immigrants living in the interior but I’d be super curious to see what the actual numbers is and where most are located.
Like kind of surprised California and Texas aren’t massively number 1 but we also know Texas has been super cooperative of immigration enforcement in comparison to a place like say, New York
I still wonder how Obama was able to do this without ppl making a fuss as big as this
Makes sense. Pro-illegal states live more illegal.
Yah because blue states passed laws that stop ice from arresting criminals when they’re at courthouses and jails.
So ice then needs to go chase them down which is way more effort and much higher risk.
The number of people in this thread who don’t understand that this is the share of arrests, not the number, is wild.
You could have identical per capita at-large arrests in every state and still see this exact pattern because non-sanctuary states transfer illegal immigrants who are arrested on other crimes to ICE, increasing the denominator of total arrests without increasing at-large arrests.
I would hate to see the latest numbers…
