I hope they defined exactly when they will pull the trigger. I’m ok with a diplomatic solution, but only when carrying a big stick, and making sure everyone knows when and how you’ll use that stick.
Weak. Pure spineless weakness.
As long as they will actually use the bazooka when the diplomatic solutions fail. You can’t threaten something and not do it when your redline is crossed.
Will this „diplomatic solution“ be another case of caving to Trump’s threats by weakening their position in exchange for no benefit? The US is a hostile foreign power and should be treated as such.
The problem is that the children currently running the USA will see diplomatic endeavors as weakness.
What diplomatic solution? US clearly said they want to take Greenland the easy way or the hard way. They start another tariff war because they know EU is all talk no bite.

Sometimes I wonder when this is all said and done, if US will have 40% tariffs on European products and Europe 0% on US products. Right now that’s the path we are on.
I’m not entirely sure how much diplomacy there is to be done here realistically.
Either you accept the tariffs as they are and show Europe to be as weak, spineless and divided as its reputed to be, or you hit them back with tariffs in return, or the bazooka if need be.
Any negotiating or compromising on this issue is appeasement, pure and simple. We’re talking about a third party using extortion to try and directly influence the foreign policy of numerous EU member states. If they don’t stand up against that then as far as I’m concerned then the EU truly deserves to die and we will need to try and cobble together something else.
Haven’t we compromised and appeased more than enough already?
Does EU still think that we are dealing with a rational leader and government that will appreciate diplomacy?
EU is the only region in the world that can leverage its power and use it against the USA. However, it needs all the countries to support such a decision.
For about 20 years, we (the EU) have been the victims of the USA’s political and economic disasters. This needs to change and Europe can and should count in its own power!
US already put the tariffs out. EU should put their counter measure into effect, also beginning 1 feb with the tariffs, and then negotiate for BOTH to be removed.
Anything else is just starting yourself off on the back foot

The EU better be ready to act once shit hits the fan. If the Union doesn’t dare to respond to threats against members’ territories, what’s it good for? The EU must not back off and project weakness, as Trump’s puppets just claimed.

He’s done enough fucking around, it’s time for him to find out. 15% tariffs on all US goods, a few thousand NATO troops to Greenland and the setup of necessary equipment to keep his fat useless Cheeto fingers out of the arctic.

EU needs to use the bazooka. It’s the only thing Americans will understand. You need to put them in their place right away and stop playing games with them. The ACI was designed for exactly this situation. The USA is a threat to all Western nations. Stop appeasing them, diplomatic solutions won’t work.
