Light sentences. This why the justice system in Canada is seen letting down the victims.
We need to focus on holding these companies responsible for substandard hiring, lack of technology in cabins to prevent distracted driving, and the accreditation process for allowing low quality drivers on to the road.

I’ve been watching „Highway to Hell“, a reality show (now on Netflix) that follows a commercial towing company servicing the Coquihalla Highway in BC. It’s a regular ocurrence for them to be swearing about the lack of safety shown by the truckers. It keeps them in business, but going so fast in winter conditions that you wipe out on a shallow corner means that sometimes people die. And it appears that most of them have no clue about how to put on tire chains, or are capable of reading the hazard roadsigns.
