      Orion’s escape system is very heavy, around 7t, same as the entire Soyuz spacecraft and expensive. It is a classical escape tower powered by solid rockets. It has to be big partially because SLS uses SRBs.

      This is different than what Dragon 2 and Starliner are using. Both have high thrust engines powered by on-board propellants that are used for maneuvering on a normal mission.

      What happened to the Orion that slammed into the ocean? Bet that thing looked pretty gnarly.

      Anyone know how may Gs the astronauts pull during the LAS? And how does that compare to normal launch? Looks like it would be a significant amount more.
