Wirklich interessanter Artikel über einen Teil von Georgia, über den viel Rhetorik gesprochen wird, aber nicht viel wirkliche Aufmerksamkeit

Super interesting. It’s not surprising or new that Gali residents would be treated poorly by Abkhaz authorities but it’s the first time I’ve heard about that kind of treatment from the Georgian border police, it seems to be a more recent development over the last few years as the author notes.
I’d love to understand what is driving that, either culturally or in law. On what basis e.g. can or would they want to restrict taking goods from Zugdidi to Gali – it’s part of Georgia and any restriction undermines the Georgian territorial claim.
The only thing I’d take issue with there is the suggestion that wider Georgia doesn’t care. I think the country would be extremely pissed that Georgians in Gali are being treated this way by their own government, more like most people don’t know this is happening.
