Ich stelle die Frage, da ich oft auf Situationen gestoßen bin, in denen Leute von meiner Arbeit, Asiakas (ich bin eine Kotihoito-Krankenschwester) und Facebook-Posts ein fast 100 Jahre altes Foto entwirrt und ohne Makel behalten.
Es gab einen Fall, in dem mir eine Kollegin (sie ist etwa 75 Jahre alt) eine Zeitschrift zeigte, in der ein Zweijähriger für ein Kleidungsstück posiert.
Ich wusste nicht, dass sie das kleine Kind auf diesem Foto ist. Ich war verblüfft, denn das Foto sieht überhaupt nicht wie mein eigenes altes Foto aus (wo es verpixelt ist), es war so gut wie neu und als ich das Jahr auf der oberen Seite des Magazins überprüfte, wurde es im Jahr 1951 veröffentlicht 😲
Es gab auch einen Fall, in dem einer der ältesten auf den Philippinen veröffentlichten Filme auf einem der finnischen Kanäle gezeigt wurde. Es wurde in einem unserer lokalen Kanäle vorgestellt, wo die Filmclubbranche die Archivierungsbehörde in Finnland aufsuchen möchte, um eine legale Kopie davon zu erhalten.
Zurück zu meiner Frage: Aus welchen Gründen ist Finnland sehr gut darin, alte Fotos und Videos zu archivieren?

We are careful? Same reason buffets are popular, no one wants to lose anything of value
The pictures and papers last when you take good care of them. All you need to do here is put them in the closet as there is no extreme temperatures or humidity issues in habited houses.
Old photos have no pixelation since they were taken on film. If you have original negatives is good condition, you can potentially get really good digitals out of them. Also having a national archive that stores lot of stuff is good.
Finland used to be poor country and it instilled certain frugality in older generations.
A lot of societal and institutional continuity over the 20th century. Finland saw a lot less physical devastation from WWI and WWII than many European countries did, and we have had no foreign occupations or revolutionary government changes in over a century.
All this has helped different organizations, societies and families to hold on to photos and all kinds of document of the past.
Because everything was better in the good old days.
