I used to think “abolish ICE” sounded extreme. Then I watched families terrorized and citizens detained, and it stopped sounding fringe and started sounding reasonable.

They won’t abolish ice because they can’t IMAGINE letting us know that a few weeks of protest is enough to demilitarize our country. They can’t dare let the livestock understand we are strong enough to get ourselves out of the fences we’re out in.
MAGA want this fight. Almost everything Trump has done has been through emergency powers. We all know they are targeting specific places, evoking conflict. It allows them to be more aggressive and grab more power away from their targets. Plus Tens of millions of Americans love this shit. They’ve wanted it for years. Progressives need to be careful, a huge part of this battle is optics and controlling narratives.
They can abolish the Department of Education and any other govt run department but saying Abolish ICE is too radical?

Who cares? If AOC wants to get out and campaign on abolishing ICE, great. If a house member that scraped by in 2020 wants to take a softer anti-ice position, do that. They don’t have to be in exact lock-step over the issue, they just need to be directionally correct on it.

I know it’s an unpopular opinion on Reddit, but immigration enforcement still has value. The way this administration has gone about it is totally unacceptable. DHS is completely out of control and are abusing their authority. We’ve had sensible immigration enforcement in the past and we can get back there again without human rights abuses.

Ice needs to be abolished. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have some type of immigration enforcement agency but it can’t be ice and it can’t be anyone that had anything to do with ice during this admin.

ICE started in 2003. Our country was plenty fine for over 200 years before then.

Need to rid ourselves of the Patriot Act, and the Homeland Security Act…..both were disastrous when they were created.
The Bill of Rights exists specifically to counter what we are seeing ICE do today.
It is patently un-American to *not* oppose those actors.
