      A common abuser tactic is to say something insanely awful, then criticize the victim for being too sensitive.

      When that happens, the victim needs to set a clear boundary that the abuser has gone too far.

      Otherwise, it will happen again, and worse.

      The US is sinking in debt, while the government is actively championing a zero or even negative interest rate, placing mercantilistic tariffs on its longtime allies, and threatening to invade or sever all historical alliances with said allies. It is literally a recipe for disaster.

      This „51st state“ crap betrays how little thought they actually put into anything they say.

      Statehood for Greenland, and/or Iceland, would mean giving very socialist territories senators and congressmen. For Greenland, it’d mean giving a very indigenous region that representation. Does anyone actually believe that’d happen?

      If they want a 51st state so badly, they should look at Puerto Rico – 3.2 million Americans that have no representation in congress.

      I’m not saying the threats are hollow, or that they should be ignored. I am saying they’re utterly stupid, and betray the idiocy of those making them.

      From a Canadian standpoint, it really let me down when most the rest of the world stood silent as the US mocked our sovereignty. I am equally pissed off now for these people. America, the worst parts of it, is being a bully and I won’t stand for it.

      Missouri has suffered under these White Christian Nationalist nutjobs for over 20 years as the State Government Supermajority. Why? Education budget cuts and propaganda across TV, radio stations, and alt-right churches controlling information. Lack of rural internet on cell phones makes it difficult to get accurate information. Rural voting locations often use long open tables. Husbands sit next to their wives to tell them how to vote.

      Our state was one of many where the Heritage Foundation and ALEC tested Project 2025 to get Trump into power and all their legislation passed.       Iceland and other places would never become states. That would give them too much power. They’d become territories. The US could exploit all the resources, but give them fuck-all power to do anything about it. This is what Alberta separatists get very, very wrong. The US wouldn’t make Alberta a state. They would loot and pillage everything they could, and leave the place without anything in return. Ottawa treats them like a colony, but DC would forget they even exist.
