Canada’s privacy watchdog said on Thursday it was expanding an existing probe into X following reports that the social media platform’s Grok AI chatbot was making non-consensual sexually explicit deepfakes.
In a statement, Privacy Commissioner of Canada Philippe Dufresne also said he was launching a related investigation into xAI, the artificial intelligence company responsible for Grok.

Don’t say “expands probe” in a headline

I’ve done a bit of digging into this and it seems that pretty much all of the other generative AI services will perform the same „put a bikini on this person“ request when prompted. So essentially much ado about nothing.

alright were not banning access to specific websites and creating our own great firewall 2.0 like dictatorships do so lets nip that in the bud before this entire comment section fills up with „Lmao just ban x“
im curious tho how we prevent this. theres ten thousand differnt apps out that can photoshop people in skimpy clothing with one press of a button now and anyone with a decent graphics card can do it locally as well
how do you actually write legislation to prevent this? not to mention x isnt even a canadian company so our options are real limited
