Ich frage mich, wie es wäre, in dieser Gegend Finnlands zu leben, ohne einen bestimmten Grund. Es hat nichts damit zu tun, dass ich in Amerika lebe und das DHS den KKK auf Twitter zitiert oder so.

I live here and I have my cabin in the same area too. This is ok, funny dialect though.

Good luck, best thing to do is go for 3 months and see how you like it, as far as living in Finland full time, that will be the difficult part.

Well they picked the part that isn’t actually part of Finland so that’s a little unfortunate.

I just was in Rauma last September on holiday. It’s a nice quiet town, historical centre, some nice places to eat, large shopping centre, nothing crazy, but I liked it. I’ve been there 2 nights though – so couldn’t judge as a local.

Mossy Bottom moved there with his family from Ireland. This is a very realistic description of the environment, but he is also a permaculture enthusiastic and chooses to live like this.
You’d fit right in, as the people from the west coast are also incapable of speaking actual finnish!

You can take a party boat to Stockholm from Turku. Sometimes they are priced as low as 10 euros, for a 12 or 24 hours cruise

Turku is said to be the asshole of finland. It’s kinda like new jersey is in america.

In a nutshell:
Nice, peaceful(boring?) area to live in. Small cities (210k – 15k residents) to choose from, or you can live literally in the middle of nowhere if that’s what you prefer.
Unemployment is high at the moment and basic things like groceries and such are quite expensive.
Getting a job is probably the biggest hurdle.
Winters are dark and last anywhere from 3,5 to 5 months. If you are lucky, there might even be snow!
Most of the people speak at least basic english, but some finnish is required if you want to have an actual social contract with locals.
Come for a longer visit to find out more, but not in summer, because that’s awesome but in reality not what it’s like most of the time.
The same piece notes that a lot of DHS’s/ICE’s social media posts are certainly leaning into rhetoric and an aesthetic that are pretty damn close to those used by white supremacists. Obviously this isn’t much better, just wanted to make sure the facts are clear.

Well, there’s plenty of nice grocery stores in the area, like this:

So it’s not too much of a culture shock.

Persnickety fact check that doesn’t change the overall nature of your post at all:
For the record, the viral posts claiming that this is „quoting the KKK“ don’t appear to be verified anywhere I can see, and [Newsweek ](https://www.newsweek.com/trump-administration-ice-dhs-post-lyrics-criticized-11346700)explicitly says that there’s no evidence it’s KKK-linked.
